CASTING CALL: ROAR
PROOF OF CONCEPT
An Asphodel Meadow Films Production
Albuquerque, New Mexico
ROAR is a character-driven feature film written and directed by Edward D Padilla. We are casting two principal roles for a two-evening Proof of Concept shoot.
NON-UNION | VOLUNTEER
No guaranteed compensation. A small stipend may be possible depending on funding.
Actors selected for the Proof of Concept may be considered for the corresponding roles in the feature once financing is secured, subject to scheduling, availability, and mutual agreement.
RONAN | Late 20s
Quiet. Isolated. Observant. A young man who has mastered making himself small.
Ronan lives by routine, silence, and self-reliance. He is intelligent, capable, and quietly searching for something beyond the life he has built around himself.
Seeking a restrained, internal performance. An actor who can communicate a great deal through silence, expression, and small physical choices.
AIDEN | Late 20s
Steady. Kind. Increasingly frayed. A man carrying more than he lets anyone see.
Aiden is worn down by circumstances he cannot seem to control, but keeps trying to hold himself together.
Seeking an actor who can convey vulnerability without sentimentality. Someone comfortable letting emotion live beneath the surface through silence, restraint, and small physical choices.
RILEY | Mid-20s | CAST
Funny. Restless. Masculine. Quick with a joke and often uses humor to deflect what he does not want to face.
Seeking natural charisma, strong comic timing, and the ability to move seamlessly between humor, vulnerability, and emotional weight.
Riley has already been cast.
IMPORTANT PRODUCTION REQUIREMENT
The Proof of Concept includes a swimming sequence.
All three principal actors enter and swim in a pool fully clothed. Actors must be comfortable swimming while wearing clothing.
Riley appears without a shirt for part of the sequence.
NO NUDITY.
THE PROOF OF CONCEPT
The purpose of the Proof of Concept is to demonstrate the tone, performances, chemistry, and visual language of ROAR as we move toward feature financing.
This is not intended to be a traditional trailer. It is an opportunity to experience what ROAR feels like on screen.
